Marriage Certificate Romance
The project is a visual analysis of marriage certificates ranging from the late Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) to 2004. Through the extraction of blessing images and texts on the marriage certificates, the meaning behind the symbols is interpreted in a historical context to reveal the culture and the expectation of marriage in different times.
